Stockland Park was appointed by Sunshine Coast Regional Council to manage the Stockland Park Precinct.
Stockland Park was put in place to develop and implement the strategic plan for the Stockland Park precinct incorporating the existing sports fields the Kawana Aquatic Centre the Western Fields, the beautiful Lake Kawana and about to commence, the Sunshine Coast Outdoor Stadium.
We are responsible for the ongoing strategic planning, physical development of the precinct, marketing, financial management, business planning, control, management and growth of the precinct and management of day-to-day operational activities on site.
As of 1 July 2001, QPC has taken over full management control of the facility on Nicklin Way. In a short period of time we have been successful in attaining funding (together with Sunshine Coast Regional Council), for new facilities to be built within the precinct.
The facility itself is currently home to a number of community sporting teams and competitions including Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles, Sunshine Coast FC (Fire), Sunshine Coast Stingrays, Kawana Rugby Union, Kawana Rugby League, Kawana Soccer and the Kawana Touch Association. In addition to this the Kawana Aquatic Centre offers a variety of activities from swim classes to aqua-aerobics.
Many successful events have been conducted at Stockland Park. Pre Olympic training camps such as kayking, swimming, water polo, Qld Reds, Auckland Blues (NZ) rowing the training base for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games gold medal winning Women's Water Polo team, the training base for the 2006 Queensland State of Origin team and the Australian Swimming team.
Touring productions are held here such as Grease, Cats, John Farnham, Great Moscow Circus, Home-shows, Boat Shows, the Vintage Car Show, NRL Trial Games 2007, 2008, 2009 (attracting 8000 spectators) as well as numerous state and national championships in a variety of sporting events.
Stockland Park is a non-profit body established by the Sunshine Coast Regional Council as a company under Corporations Law. The Board has been specifically formed to provide the range of skills and experience necessary for the success of this project.
