Club History:
The Kawana Waters Canoe Club was formed by a small band of Paddlers who were determined to have a Canoe Club at the southern end on the Sunshine Coast. In July 2002, the Club was formed and it was planned to be the first Canoe Club to based at Lake Kawana. A close association was developed with Caloundra City Council and in particular the Stockland (Quad) Park Corporation. Currimundi Lake was the first venue to be used as Lake Kawana was still being constructed. In November 2004, Lake Kawana was officially opened and the Kawana Waters Canoe Club was invited to be a huge part of the celebrations.
Alan Macklin, was the foundation Club President and is still an active member within the Club. He has been there since the beginning, developing the Club's base, Alan enlisted the services of Dr Enid Ginn very early in the piece and with her band of elite coaches, Brian Trouville, Barry Kelly and Jamie Walker, they set about building a World Class competative Club.
